The royal families of Europe in the 19th century were well interconnected by marriage, and this CdV illustrates this. The Princess of Wales and the King of Greece were siblings, together with Princess Dagmar, who appears on another CdV in this collection taken by the Southwell Brothers. Their parents were the King and Queen of Denmark, Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksburg and Princess Louise of Hesse-Cassel.
